Make Friends With Google

If you are in any way involved in marketing on the Internet, it’s time to make friends with Google. And don’t think about just becoming an acquaintance. Serious online marketers know that Google needs to be their best friend. Because if Google becomes an enemy – for instance, if for some reason you become black listed – it’s pretty much time to close up your internet shop and go back to the brick-and-mortar world.

Google is the undisputed champion of search engines, and as such, will play a major role in your biggest challenge-driving traffic to you website or blog. Two out of every three internet searches come through Google – and that’s a lot of searches. In order to get a sense of the scale we’re talking about here, in any given month the Google Monster will gobble up almost 20 billion searches. The epic scale of that number is exceptionally difficult to comprehend.

The other thing the Google Monster gobbles up is content. In a never ending search to rank websites and blogs, Google sends automated “crawlers” across the internet to monitor what’s going on. New content is cataloged and the sites or blogs updated in terms of rankings. Out, stale or outdated content is digested with just the opposite effect-the sites and blogs are downgraded. So maintaining your websites and blogs with fresh, crisp, timely and relevant content is absolutely essential to befriending Google. There’s no getting around it.

But to really make friends with Google, be prepared to ante up some bucks. Big time – and highly successful – internet marketers literally spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote their businesses with Google. But you get what you pay for-these are the same people that can make several hundred thousand dollars a month as a return on their investment.

Before you spend any money, however, it might be useful to understand very clearly what you are doing. Entire books have been written about how to effectively leverage Google for internet marketing. If you are serious about making money online, buy them-and read them. Google is an incredibly powerful tool that has made a lot of people incredibly rich. If you want to be one of them, make sure you learn how to make friends with Google.
